In what should really have been a 3-0 win for Ian, James managed to sneaky away with a 2-1 victory today. After Ian fouled on the black (and potting it) in the first frame, he must have known that it wasn't going to be his day. He had two near clearances but failed to take advantage of his opportunities and James managed a 4 ball clearance in the last to take the honours for the week.

So, James depressed, Ian ill, it was always going to be a close run thing. We went through to the final ball on the final frame after two fairly comprehensive wins in the first two games traded. Ian can barely move, James has lost all energy including that to eat. It's been a fun day.

2-1 again today, as have all the preceeding matches been this week, with each trading blows with the other. 3 pretty standard frames today, with neither really claiming the initiative at any stage, although James nearly managed a clearance in the first frame, as did Ian in the second.

Ian's first words today were, "I'm bloody knackered after football last night, I'm going to lose today!" Well, he was right, but not in usual fashion. Ian won the first with a fair beating, before going in off on the black in the second frame and losing all confidence prior to James rinsing on the decider.

Today's event saw the three frames reeled off at great pace with Ian emerging as the victor by 2 frames to 1. All three frames were completed in under 20 minutes, despite the inherent lack on the chalk front.

A slight discrepancy in the rules (read as, we've been playing the wrong shot allocation on black rule for the last 3 months) saw James clinch the opener before Ian snatched one back in quick fashion. The last game saw a bit of tit for tat in some abominable shotplay. Still, in reverse fashion to last week, James took the closing frame of the week to retain and extend his lead.

Patience is a virtue.

Finally James started to remember how this game is supposed to be played, or perhaps it was a case of Ian forgetting? 3 perfect opportunities to win the 3 frames passed Ian by, with some composure being demonstrated by James in order to wreap the rewards of sucess.

Was nice to see Ian in the office for a change :)

I've managed to get the excuses in early this time. the lights above the pool table were broken so I managed to feign blindness to a quite acceptable level! Even so and despite having stupid amounts of meetings, we managed to fit in a couple of games and the first was looking like a 5 ball drubbing before I managed a rather sneaky snooker and managed to clear up what was left on offer.

The second frame was a slightly more straightforward event, with Ian pinching the black from distance, ensuring the honours were kept even.

A relatively tense affair today. An extremely tight first two frames were traded one each, with both missing opportunities opn the black, until a more open final frame saw Wild cheating, with an audacious reverse banks combination on his penultimate ball gift him the victory he craved.

Following what could only be described as a blinding start and only narrowly missing out on a clearance from the off, James then proceeded to push some balls around the table as Ian happily cleared the table, finishing with a tense, slow rolling black. Form was to continue in the subsequent two frames, with James fouling on the black and leaving it sitting over the pocket, before potting the black in the final frame, unfortunately a touch early.

Oh well, what a pity, never mind.

In true PlusNet fashion, a great rivalry was created in the early days of 2006. January 4th, to be precise. Bailey met Wild and the pool battles commenced.

The rivalry started in the middle of 2007, with lunchtime pool battles a regular feature. The following will present a run down with blow by blow accounts of the battle to Q3 Pool champion. the score stands at 4-2.
